Market Access to Latvia & Europe

The Entrepreneurial Nation, a special initiative of The UAE Ministry of Economy, is proud to partner with Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) to aid selected UAE based enterprises in expanding to Latvia and Europe.

LIAA offers assistance in setting up operations in Latvia, acting as the first point of contact and as a "one-stop-shop" in assisting investors and enterprises in developing tailored solutions to meet their business needs.

In addition, by being a member of the European Union, Latvia represents a springboard to further expansion across Europe. LIAA offers support in entering these markets via its representative offices.

LIAA’s support consists of non-financial market exploration support and financial support upon the company’s LTD registration in Latvia.

Eligible UAE companies may apply for these opportunities by filling in the application form. Selected companies will receive LIAA’s support services as well as marketing exposure provided by the Ministry of Economy.

Selected SMEs will receive*

  1. Initial market exploration for soft landing:

    • Support provided by an appointed mentor/dedicated point of contact as per industry.

    • Information about market landscape and opportunities.

    • Education about business culture and regulations.

  1. Comprehensive support upon company registration in Latvia:

    • EUR 200 000 awarded with de minimis terms and conditions for services provided by LIAA.

    • 100% discount on participation in Latvia national stands at international exhibitions.

    • 90% discount on compliance assessment and certification. (max of EUR 45 000)

    • 80% discount on export support activities across LIAA offices in Europe (max of EUR 60 000) **

      • participation in international exhibitions abroad with an individual stand in person or online.

      • participation in international conferences and matchmaking abroad in person or online.

      • participation in international digital industry platforms and exhibitions.

      • adaptation of products/services to foreign markets, including the development of trademarks and design samples.

      • publicity in specialized EU printed and digital industry media.

      • telemarketing services to find EU industry partners.

      • participation in EU industry associations.

      • facilitating connections with local industry partners and industry associations.

      • development and purchase of market research studies for target markets.

      • attraction of EU industry experts in export markets.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Legally registered entity in the UAE and during the project in Latvia.

  2. Home-grown innovative business.

  3. Represents one of the focus sectors.

  4. Number of years in the market min. 1 year.

  5. Revenue generating and/or has raised investment.

  6. Minimum 5 full-time employees. 

  7. Has internationalization agenda.

*Support will not be available to wholesale and retail trade, financial and insurance, real estate, rental and leasing, gambling, and betting activities.
**The support is available to merchants, co-operative societies, farms and fisheries, individual enterprises, associations and foundations, to certify that the factory, product, process or service complies with the requirements determined in the target markets according to the legislation, requirements of the competent authorities or counterparties with an annual turnover exceeding EUR 150 M.
***Latvia branded – for the co-financed or refunded activities the product and company’s activities have to be Latvian branded
